The inspirational and fun Rainbow Snippets group on Facebook invites authors to post 6 sentences of their work each weekend.
From my story DANCING DAYS about a second chance romance between Glen and Aston, who met 20 years ago in their youth but broke apart after betrayal and anguish. They deserve some joy second time around, right? 🙂
“No, that’s enough,” Glen said. “It’s fine like that. Thanks for trimming the beard, too.” He wasn’t very accurate with the clipper on his own behalf.
“No problem. Beards are very fashionable now, aren’t they?”
Glen resisted telling Tina he’d started wearing one in 1995 when he’d been too lazy to shave, and had never changed style since.
“You look very sexy,” Tina said, grinning. “You still have a really strong curl, and the silver streaks are very George Clooney.”
Silver streaks? Glen wouldn’t have counted them as more than half a dozen hairs, but maybe Tina had better eyesight than he did. He glanced at her, suspicious of teasing. “Um. Thanks. You doing anything this weekend?”
Tina’s eyes widened. “Mr Carson. I mean…? Aren’t you…?”
In that moment, Glen wanted to hug her. At the very least, she’d doubled her tip. Her first response hadn’t been, Ewww, I don’t want to date an old bear like you, but Ummm, I thought you were gay and didn’t go for women?
